David Davies - 1785

The earliest known Davies ancestor is David Davies who was born circa 1785 in Llanddewi Brefi, Cardiganshire. His wife Mary Griffiths was born circa 1794 also in Llanddewi Brefi. David was a blacksmith and farmer and they lived in a farm called Pentre Richard in Llanddewi Brefi. In 1832, Evan Davies, their fourth child (of ten) was born. David died between 1851 and 1861, and Mary died after 1871.

Evan died between 1891 and 1901 and Esther died after 1901. Evan and Esther had 11 children and obviously used a pattern when naming the children – named after grandparents, parents, and then uncles alternating between his and her families. This naming convention meant that their fourth child was also called Evan Davies. He was born on 24 June 1865 at Pantyfod.

Evan died on 3 January 1901 and his wife Esther died on 11 August 1906
