The earliest known Clark ancestor is Edward Clark. He was born circa 1574 and in June 1599, he married Elizabeth Starr in Seaton and Beer, Devon. They had three children who were all baptised in Seaton and Beer. The youngest, Edward Clarke was baptised on 20 July 1600. Edward was buried on 10 July 1611.

Nathanuel Clarke was born in Cotleigh, Devon on 23 September 1660. He and his wife Amy had four children, who were all baptised in Cotleigh. The eldest, Richard Clarke, was baptised on 27 December 1686. Nathanuel was buried on 11 December 1718.
Richard Clarke was baptised in Cotleigh, Devon on 27 December 1686. He married Mary Warren, in Cotleigh on 12 June 1729. They had six children who were all baptised in Cotleigh, although Amy Clark, their fourth child, was born on 5 July 1737 in Otterford, Somerset. Richard was buried on 19 January 1748 and Mary was buried 20 November 1768.
Amy Clark was born in Otterford, Somerset on 5 July 1737. She married John Willy in Yarcombe, Devon on 15 April 1762. They had eight children who were all baptised in Yarcombe. Amy died on 4 April 1799, aged 61 and John died on 4 February 1822, aged 85.
